THESEUS Educational Platform

The second IO is represented by the interactive training resource, developed as an online educational platform, available at https://courses.project-theseus.eu/courses/theseus-course/. The course is designed as a self-paced, online training resource.

The educational platform consists of 11 learning modules, as follows:

0. The first module is the introduction which gives the students the chance to become familiar with               basic concepts in big data analysis and IT which will be necessary for the satisfactory                               completion of the following learning modules.

  1. Big Data Relevance
  2. Law and Big Data
  3. Big Data Analysis Process. Structured vs. Unstructured data
  4. Profiling
  5. Business Understanding
  6. Clustering
  7. Social Network Analysis
  8. Text Analysis
  9. Reliability Validation
  10. Multimedia Forensics

Each of the remaining 10 modules has a similar structure:

  1. supplementary explanations that guide the student through the materials in the respective module, so that he/she can have a facile experience in the absence of an instructor, and also provides extra information regarding other available resources on the topic of that module;
  2. the lecture in the form of a written document that the student can read at their own pace;
  3. video lecture in which an instructor presents the subject matter of that particular module employing a powerpoint presentation;
  4. a short quiz for the respective module.

Some modules contain additional materials (reading, videos) that the course developers considered to be necessary for the comprehension of the topic.

There are also 3 evaluation stages:

  1. the first intermediate evaluation is after the completion of modules 1-5;
  2. the second intermediate evaluation is after the completion of module 6-10;
  3. a final evaluation with questions from all 10 learning modules.

The educational platform also includes two databases for practice along with a methodology regarding the use of the databases.
